Day 1

On arrival at Muscat International Airport, you’ll be greeted and transferred to your luxurious hotel, set in an enviable beachfront location. Muscat is a city of striking contrasts, where whitewashed buildings and grand mosques rise against a backdrop of rugged peaks and the sparkling Gulf of Oman. Days 2 – 3

Mosques, Muttrah & markets

This morning, set out on a captivating tour of Muscat, beginning with a visit to the Sultan Qaboos Grand Mosque, a magnificent masterpiece of modern Islamic architecture, where intricate mosaics and one of the world’s largest chandeliers reflect the city’s deep spiritual heritage. Continue on to the Royal Opera House, a symbol of Oman’s cultural sophistication, before heading to Muttrah, where the day’s fresh catch is laid out in the lively fish market and the scent of frankincense drifts through the narrow lanes of the traditional souk. Later, venture into Old Muscat to admire the grandeur of Al Alam Palace, the ceremonial residence of His Majesty the Sultan, flanked by the historic Al Jalali and Al Mirani forts that have guarded the natural harbour for centuries.

Day 4

Mountains, forts & mud-brick marvels

Today, embark on a scenic journey from Muscat through the striking landscapes of Oman’s interior, beginning with Nakhal and its historic fort, where ancient walls stand proudly against the desert backdrop. Wind through the dramatic cliffs and serpentine roads of Wadi Bani Auf, a spectacular gorge renowned for its rugged beauty, before arriving in Nizwa to wander the lively souk and explore its imposing fort, immersing yourself in the rich heritage of Oman. Continue to the traditional mountain village of Misfat Al Abreyeen, where verdant terraced gardens and stone houses perched on the hillside reveal a timeless way of life, before visiting the old town of Al Hamra with its ancient mud-brick architecture. As the afternoon unfolds, ascend to the cooler heights of Jabal Akhdar, taking in breathtaking panoramas along the way, and enjoy a leisurely lunch at a local restaurant or a picnic amid the serene mountain scenery, before settling into your elevated retreat.

Days 5 – 6

Hikes, heritage & hidden villages

Today offers an immersion into Oman’s mountain landscapes with the scenic Three Villages Walk, a 4–5 hour hike through historic settlements perched among dramatic cliffs and lush orchards. Wander through Wadi Bani Habib, where abandoned mud-brick houses and fertile gardens hint at centuries of traditional life. Along the trail, pause to enjoy a leisurely lunch at a charming local restaurant or savour a thoughtfully prepared picnic amid the serene surroundings, taking in panoramic views that stretch across the rugged Hajar Mountains.

The following day offer the chance to relax and take in the spectacular surroundings of your panoramic hotel. The day is at your leisure, although there are plenty of options should you wish to explore.

Day 7

From peaks to palms

Upon arrival, you’ll be transferred to your luxurious coastal hotel, perfectly situated to enjoy the gentle sea breezes and surroundings of Oman’s southernmost region. Day 8

Frankincense, fables and fiery dunes

Today takes you to the heart of the breathtaking landscapes of southern Oman. Begin with a visit to the ancient frankincense groves of Wadi Dawka, a UNESCO World Heritage site, where the fragrant resin has been treasured for millennia. Continue to the legendary lost city of Ubar for a striking photo stop, offering a glimpse into Oman’s mysterious past. Along the way, meet local families who raise black camels, a symbol of traditional Omani hospitality, and gain insight into their way of life. The highlight of the day is a journey into the Rub Al Khali, the “Empty Quarter,” one of the world’s largest and most awe-inspiring deserts. Marvel at the vast, undulating dunes stretching endlessly to the horizon, and pause to enjoy a traditional Arabic refreshment at sunset, an unforgettable moment that captures the scale, silence, and majesty of this extraordinary landscape.

For those seeking further adventures, consider a visit to the nearby Al Baleed Archaeological Park, where the ruins of this fortified coastal city provides provides a glimpse into Southern Oman’s rich maritime history.
