This thrilling journey in the heart of Swedish Lapland is a luxurious take on an Arctic adventure, combining a Scandi-luxe private log cabin with a stay at the iconic ICEHOTEL. The only possible means of transport to reach your first destination are via snowmobile, helicopter or husky sled, a rather charming constraint that gets your trip off to a breathtaking start before you reach the Fjellborg Arctic Lodge, where you'll spend days snowmobiling among silent fir forests and soaking in your private hot tub, whilst menus are created by the Lodge’s very own chef. Culminate the adventure at Jukkasjärvi's famous ICEHOTEL with a stay in a deluxe ice room with your own en-suite and relaxing area, enjoying a 12-course dinner before, luck depending, the Northern Lights' raking lines make their brilliant appearance.
Start your holiday in relaxing style after your flight from London to Kiruna (via Stockholm) as you’re collected from the airport and privately transferred to the Fjellborg Homestead. Here, your adventure begins as you change into your Arctic clothing and meet your friendly group for this afternoon, an eager team of huskies. They are, rather delightfully, one of the only possible ways to reach your destination (the other being snowmobile or helicopter). Mush your own group or simply marvel at outside’s speeding landscape, the silence only disturbed by the dogs' rhythmic patter. As you reach the pine-clad buildings, catch sight of your deluxe cabin, of which you'll have private use for the next three nights. A Scandi-chic aesthetic dominates, all blonde wood walls adorned with antique skis and bear hides, with snug beds strewn in furs. It's a wonderfully cosy setting for a private dinner, or head to the main lodge, all wood-panelled walls and candlelight, perhaps after a relaxing session in your private sauna overlooking outside's ice-slicked Lake Väkkärä.
Lunch & Dinner included
The next few days will be spent exploring the frozen wilderness that lies just on your doorstep, muffled by heavy snow in a serene quietude. Begin with a snowmobile excursion, roaring through the blanketed tundra, before enjoying a traditional Lappish fireside lunch deep in the forest. Then, head out onto the frozen expanse for an ice fishing expedition, armed with reindeer hides and a drill to hammer into the thick blue sheet around you, accompanied by a wilderness guide. A gentle snowshoe hike through the white stalagmite-like firs finishes things off tranquilly. It’s all a wonderful prelude to a soak in your private outdoor hot tub, perhaps accompanied by a glass of champagne or two as you watch the star-spangled sky interspersed with – luck depending – the Northern Lights' dazzling tendrils.
Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner included
After breakfast at the Fjellborg Arctic Lodge, enjoy a visit from a professional ice artist for your own personal ice sculpting lesson before a private snowmobile transfer, via Fjellborg Homstead, to the ICEHOTEL, where spectacular sculptures vie for your attention, painstakingly created anew annually. Marvel at their extravagance, encompassed in a champagne ICEBAR, gallery and even a church before enjoying a guided tour of the inspired rooms. Then, check into your Deluxe Ice Suite and enjoy a complimentary bottle of champagne, where you'll also have use of your own private heated bathroom and relaxation area, a welcome relief from outside's chill. It's all enough to work up an appetite for tonight's 12-course ‘Chef’s Table’ dinner on The Veranda which we've included – expect the likes of salmon on ice and topside of reindeer, paired with exquisite wines. Then it's time to bunker down on your bed of ice, armed with cosy Arctic sleeping bags and reindeer hides strewn across the bed.
Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner included
After being roused by a glass of hot lingonberry juice and a hearty breakfast, take your private transfer to Kiruna airport for your flight, via Stockholm, back to the UK.
"This itinerary combines two of Sweden's most luxe properties. The Fjellborg Arctic Lodge is truly special, with its cosy wooden interior, private sauna and hot tub. It's the perfect base to explore the snowy landscape surrounds with husky sledding and snowmobiling. I've paired it with a deluxe, en-suite room at the ICEHOTEL, which together make for a spectacular, memorable trip. The icing on the cake comes when, with luck, the Northern Lights appear – an experience that's more than likely in the clear, dark skies of Swedish Lapland."
