In more detail

Baraza Resort & Spa occupies a prime stretch of Bwejuu Beach; a shoreline recognised among the world’s finest for its powder‑soft sand and calm, reef‑protected waters. The resort’s design pays homage to Zanzibar’s Swahili heritage, with intricate hand‑carved cement decorations, graceful arches and elegant Baraza benches. Accommodation is offered in a collection of 30 villas, including one‑bedroom, two‑bedroom and the expansive Royal Sultan Villa. Each is exceptionally spacious, ranging from 148 to 254 square metres, and features a private plunge pool, a large terrace with sun loungers, a living room with a Sultan’s lounge bed and a walk‑in dressing room. Freestanding bathtubs and refined Zanzibari furnishings complete the indulgence. Oceanfront villas offer uninterrupted views of the Indian Ocean, while garden villas provide a tranquil, leafy setting.

Dining is a highlight, with four restaurants showcasing flavours drawn from Arabic, Indian and Persian culinary traditions. Breakfast is served on the open‑air Livingstone Terrace, while evenings bring elegant cocktails in the Dhahabu Bar & Lounge. The resort’s all‑inclusive offering ensures a seamless, luxurious experience throughout your stay. Meanwhile, Baraza’s Frangipani Spa offers a range of treatments inspired by the island’s natural ingredients and healing traditions. Guests can also enjoy a fitness centre, tennis court and a PADI‑certified dive centre. The surrounding coral reef makes snorkelling and diving particularly rewarding, with crystal‑clear waters and vibrant marine life in abundance.

Beyond the resort, the southeast coast offers access to some of Zanzibar’s most memorable experiences – from visits to Jozani Forest, home of the rare red colobus monkey, to spice farm tours, reef safaris and dolphin encounters in nearby Kizimkazi. Baraza’s location on a relatively undeveloped coastline ensures a peaceful, authentic island atmosphere, complemented by warm, personalised service from a team deeply connected to Zanzibar’s culture.
