For more adventurous pursuits, head out fishing in the wilderness, then dine on your catch around a campfire. This area is also teeming with wildlife, from whales and orcas to seals and bald eagles, spotted with cruises through the glacier-formed Misty Fjords, canoe trips or even flying on a floatplane over the magnificent Tongass National Forest and Misty Fjords National Monument. We'd also recommend a tour with the indigenous Tlingit people to learn of their culture as you tour the largest Tlingit settlement in Alaska and discover the stories of the Tlingit totem poles. This area is known for its seafood – why not go out fishing for huge halibut or grill seafood, Alaska-style, sampling Dungeness crab, salmon, shrimp and cod in a hands-on in class.
