In more detail

Among the pristine waters lie the floating ocean-side suites, reached from an expansive wooden walkway that extends into the forest. It all feels charmingly West Coast, with natural cedar furnishings and art from the local region alongside en-suite bathrooms, rustic timber-beamed and wood-clad ceilings and wood-fired stoves.

However, it's the pine-framed surrounds that really impress. Full days are spent spotting grizzly and black bears in one of the bear viewing estuaries alongside thrilling zodiac and boat trips – which, from mid-July, will afford you opportunities to spot orcas and, between May and October, humpbacks. There's even chances to head out on heli-hiking adventures, sea kayaking trips or interpretive guided rainforest hikes.

Come back to drinks and canapés at the lodge alongside briefings about next day's thrills and presentations about the area's wildlife, the rainforest and First Nations culture before indulging in a deliciously fresh buffet dinner, the likes of freshly-caught fish on offer alongside complimentary wine. Then, the cosy lounge’s bar, brick fireplace, floor-to-ceiling windows and wraparound deck make for a wonderful way to while away the evening as you watch the sun set over the harbour.
