Day 1

Canterbury & the Belmond British Pullman

Your journey begins at London Victoria where, having boarded the Belmond British Pullman, you’ll settle into your immaculately restored carriage with a sparkling Bellini cocktail and a sumptuous three-course brunch. It’s the perfect introduction to life on board, and a wonderful accompaniment to views of the verdant beauty of the Kent countryside, a region evocatively known as ‘the garden of England’.

On arrival in Canterbury, an included coach transfer will see you right into the historic heart of the city, where an expert-led walking tour will showcase its medieval laneways, pretty riverside gardens and the grandeur of its 11th-century cathedral. It’s then time to return to the train, where a classic afternoon tea and a glass of English sparkling wine will see you back to London in style.

About the itinerary

"Canterbury is one of my favourite UK cities, and there can be few better ways to arrive among its historic treasures than aboard one of the UK's most historic trains. For me, the highlight of this trip has to be the food and drink, especially the afternoon tea, which is a wonderful way to end a day packed full of memorable experiences."
