Day 1

Arrive in Bergen

Your journey begins in Bergen, Norway's historic gateway to the fjords. On arrival, make your way to your elegant hotel, housed in a beautifully restored 19th-century bank building in the heart of the city. The remainder of the day is yours to explore Bergen's many charms, from the colourful timber buildings of the UNESCO-listed Bryggen waterfront to its bustling fish market, atmospheric alleyways and excellent dining scene. Included during your stay is a return trip on the Fløibanen funicular, which climbs above the city for magnificent views across Bergen and the surrounding mountains and waterways. This evening, perhaps dine at nearby Frescohallen, acclaimed for its striking interior adorned with frescoes by Norwegian artist Alex Revold and its contemporary take on local and international cuisine.

About the itinerary

"Sailing from Bergen to Kirkenes, you'll witness some of Norway's most spectacular scenery unfolding right outside your window. What I particularly love about Havila is the balance between life onboard and the opportunity to explore ashore, whether that's joining a guided excursion, discovering a charming coastal town or simply soaking up the ever-changing views from the ship. The food is excellent too, showcasing local ingredients from the regions you're traveling through, making the journey every bit as memorable as the destinations themselves."
