Poised on the shores of Lake Como, Palazzo Genazzini enjoys a privileged waterfront setting in the heart of elegant Bellagio, where panoramic views of the lake and snow-dusted mountains await. Once known as Albergo Genazzini e Metropole, this 18th-century palazzo was a much-loved stop on the Grand Tour. After a full refurbishment, this storied building reopened in summer 2026 and has been thoughtfully reimagined for a contemporary era, blending heritage architecture with understated luxury and allowing natural light and the rhythms of the lake to take center stage.

In more detail

The setting is one of its greatest luxuries. Dubbed the ‘Pearl of Lake Como’, Bellagio is perched at the tip of the promontory where Italy’s most famous lake forks into two southern branches. Its centuries-old facades, cobbled alleyways and flower-strewn terraces have long charmed visitors, from Roman emperors to Hollywood glitterati. Palazzo Genazzini sits right on the waterfront promenade in the heart of it all, just steps from café terraces, boutiques and ferry landings. Its convenient, mid-lake location makes it an easy and scenic base for exploring Lake Como and the villages and gardens dotted along its picturesque shoreline.

The 35 guestrooms and suites are styled with understated elegance. The mood throughout is calm and refined with neutral tones and marble bathrooms. Windows frame views of the lake, mountains and Bellagio’s historic center, while drawing in the clear Lombardy light that gives each space its warm, relaxed feel. Those wanting more room can upgrade to a suite, which adds a separate living area and private balcony, or one of the signature suites with generous terraces made for lingering over lake views.

Guests can look forward to dining in the lakeside restaurant, which spills out onto the piazza, and relaxing on the rooftop terrace with far-reaching views over the water.
