Day 1

Arrive in Bergen

Your Norwegian adventure begins in Bergen, a delightfully picturesque waterfront city surrounded by mountains and fjords. On arrival, make your way to your elegant city center hotel, set within a 19th-century former bank building just a short stroll away from the harbour. Spend the rest of the day discovering Bergen's colourful, UNESCO-listed waterfront (Bryggen), cobbled streets, lively fish market, and inviting array of bars, cafés and restaurants. A return journey on the iconic Fløibanen funicular is also included, offering superb views of the city and the surrounding landscapes. In the evening, nearby Frescohallen is a magnificent setting for dinner, serving delicious, modern local and international cuisine to a backdrop of vaulted ceilings and impressive frescoes painted by renowned Norwegian artist Alex Revold.

Day 2

Explore Bergen & embark on Havila cruise

With your ship departing in the evening, you have another day to enjoy Bergen at leisure. If you didn’t have time on your first day, be sure to ride the Fløibanen to one of the city's finest panoramic viewpoints. There are several short, easily accessible hiking trails here that wind between lakes and forests, offering a tranquil escape to nature within easy reach of the city. Later on, make your way to the port and board your Havila ship, which will be your home at sea for the next 11 nights.

Take some time to settle into your stylish sea view cabin and familiarise yourself with the ship’s common areas before enjoying your first delicious dinner at Havrand restaurant. Dining onboard is based on seasonal, locally sourced Norwegian ingredients, with menus that change regularly throughout the voyage. It's also possible to book a five-course fine dining experience at Hildring restaurant for an additional supplement. If you’d like to upgrade your onboard accommodation to a suite – which comes with either floor-to-ceiling windows or a private balcony, along with a complimentary welcome pack and premium dining options – please speak to one of our specialists.

Day 3

Ålesund, Geirangerfjord & Molde

Wake to your first full day at sea as the ship calls at Torvik, home to Havila's headquarters, before arriving in the elegant coastal town of Ålesund. Renowned for its striking Art Nouveau architecture, Ålesund is spread across a series of islands and serves as a gateway to some of Norway’s most spectacular fjords. Disembark to explore it independently or join an optional guided walking tour. If traveling between 1 April – 31 August, your cruise continues along Geirangerfjord, which forms part of the West Norwegian Fjords UNESCO World Heritage Site. It’s one of Norway’s most spectacular fjords, flanked by steep mountains and waterfalls that tumble down sheer cliffs. There’s also the option to embark on an excursion that’ll take you from the village of Geiranger up the meandering Trollstigen mountain road before a spectacular ride on the Romsdal Gondola. Alternatively, if traveling between 1 September – 31 October, you’ll visit the equally impressive Hjørundfjord, which cuts a 35-kilometre slash between the soaring peaks of the Sunnmøre Alps. Later on, your voyage continues north from Ålesund to Molde, a city on the northern shore of Romsdalsfjord.

Day 5

Bodø & the Lofoten Islands

Today marks one of the voyage's most significant milestones as you cross the Arctic Circle, traditionally celebrated with a special onboard ceremony. North of this latitude (66°33'N), the sun never sets during the summer months, bathing the landscape in 24/7 daylight. Continue through some of Norway's most spectacular coastal scenery, passing several small settlements including Brønnøysund, Sandnessjøen and Nesna en route to Bodø, the former European Capital of Culture in 2024. Here, you may set out on a coastal hike, a walking tour or a boat tour to Saltstraumen, the world’s strongest tidal current. Once back onboard later on, the next stretch of your voyage brings you to the town of Svolvær in the Lofoten Islands, an awe-inspiring archipelago of jagged granite peaks, remote beaches and colourful, timber-clad fishing villages. You may wish to join a RIB boat safari here, taking you along Lofoten’s dramatic coastline to the idyllic village of Henningsvær with the Midnight Sun as your backdrop.

Its downtown area is compact and easy to explore on foot, which you’ll be able to do either independently or on a guided walking tour. There’s also the chance to ride the Fjellheisen cable car, which brings you to a viewpoint on Mount Storsteinen with fabulous views overlooking Tromsø and the surrounding Arctic landscape.
