On arrival in Kuusamo in northeastern Finland, a private transfer of around 10 minutes will bring you to Arctic Lumo Resort, a secluded wilderness retreat surrounded by snow-laden forests, rolling fells and frozen lakes. Accommodation ranges between three categories: cozy Aurora Rooms, featuring a glass-walled section ideal for Northern Lights viewing; Aurora Spa Rooms, complete with the added benefit of a private outdoor hot tub; or extra-spacious Panoramic Suites, which offer two bedrooms, a lounge area and also a private outdoor hot tub.
This evening, once you've settled in, enjoy your first three-course dinner at the resort's restaurant, where acclaimed Finnish chef Kim Mikkola has created innovative menus inspired by the region's finest seasonal ingredients. Fresh fish, wild game, foraged mushrooms, herbs and berries all feature prominently, showcasing the natural bounty of the surrounding forests and lakes. Later, step outside and cast your eyes across the night sky for a chance to spot the Northern Lights.

After breakfast, set out on your first included adventure as you travel by snowmobile across a frozen lake to a traditional reindeer farm. Here, you'll meet and feed the reindeer, hear stories about reindeer herding and gain an insight into the important role these animals have played in the culture and traditions of the indigenous Sámi people over the centuries. The experience also includes a short reindeer sleigh ride through the enchanting, snowy landscape.
Back at Arctic Lumo Resort, the afternoon is yours to enjoy at leisure. Explore the surrounding area by taking advantage of complimentary snowshoes or cross-country skis, enjoy a family sledding session on the resort's own hill, or simply relax in your accommodation. If you're staying in an Aurora Spa Room or a Panoramic Suite, a relaxing soak in your private outdoor hot tub will surely be on the agenda, while private sauna sessions and additional guided adventures can also be arranged on-site.

Today's adventures begin with a visit to a local husky farm, where you'll meet the friendly and energetic dogs, learn about their care and discover what it takes to 'mush' (the art of steering a sled). Following a short introduction, you'll set off on an exhilarating husky sled ride, gliding through snow-covered forests behind your own enthusiastic team of dogs.
Later, the festive magic continues with an unforgettable trip to meet Santa. Accompanied by Santa's elves, you'll enjoy tobogganing before gathering in a traditional wooden hut for grilled sausages and warming drinks. The festivities continue at Santa's house, where children can help prepare gingerbread, sweet buns and Christmas cards. Tea, coffee, berry juice and glögi (mulled wine) are served throughout the afternoon, alongside plenty of festive treats. Each child receives a special gift from Santa, before everyone comes together to sing a traditional Christmas carol. Return to Arctic Lumo Resort in the evening for another excellent dinner and, if you're staying in an Aurora Spa Room or Panoramic Suite, a relaxing soak in your private hot tub – hopefully accompanied by the Northern Lights dancing overhead.

This morning, a private transfer will take you to Ruka Ski Resort, one of Finland's best ski destinations. Spread across the slopes of Rukatunturi fell, the resort features 41 pistes and 22 lifts, making it an excellent choice for beginners and intermediate skiers. Ski equipment and elevator passes are arranged in advance, allowing you to head straight to the slopes and make the most of your day. Private lessons can also be organised for a supplement. Non-skiers, meanwhile, may prefer to spend time exploring Ruka's cafés, restaurants and stores.
Your day also includes an exhilarating ride on the Ruka Coaster, the world's northernmost mountain roller coaster. The 767-meter track winds through the fell scenery at speeds of up to 40km/h, with each rider able to control their own pace using an onboard brake lever. After a fun-filled final day, return to Arctic Lumo Resort and enjoy a farewell three-course dinner.
