Traverse the magnificent Rocky Mountains and sail the glacial waters of Alaska on this North American adventure, bringing together a luxury rail and cruise experience among some of the most spectacular scenery on Earth. You'll start with a full tour of Banff and a scenic helicopter tour over the mountains, before boarding Rocky Mountaineer for a journey through the cragged peaks of the Rockies, pausing at Kamloops for an overnight stay. Then, from Vancouver you'll embark ms Nieuw Amsterdam for a scenic cruise around some of Alaska's most treasured port towns. Day 1

UK to Calgary

Enjoy a private chauffeur transfer to the airport and VIP lounge access before boarding your daytime flight to Calgary, Alberta. You'll have a little time to explore the city, which has a distinct Wild West culture – best summed up by the annual Calgary Stampede each July. Soak up the unique Western Canadian history, and while you're here, visit a traditional steakhouse for some Saltlik before checking in to your accommodation in the heart of the city.

Day 2

Calgary to Banff

Today you'll depart Calgary for a full-day tour concluding in Banff. You'll journey to Kananaskis and experience a breathtaking Panoramic Helicopter Tour for an aerial view of the scenery below. Then, continue onwards to Banff for a sightseeing excursion, taking in Bow Falls, Lake Minnewanka, Surprise Corner, and the Hoodoos – strange rock formations creating unique monuments on the mountainside. You'll also have the opportunity to ride Banff Gondola, a cableway leading to viewing platforms and hiking trails at the top of the magnificent Sulphur Mountain.

Day 3

Rocky Mountaineer Banff to Kamloops

Today,  you'll board Rocky Mountaineer and traverse the spectacular Rockies en route to Kamloops. You'll pass glaciers and peaks, tunnels and ranchlands as you settle into your comfortable reclining seat. Highlights include the Spiral Tunnels, Rogers Pass and Kicking Horse Canyon. Of course, you'll enjoy warm Canadian hospitality as you go, including a delicious breakfast and lunch onboard, as you relax in the comfort of one of the world's favourite trains. Tonight, you'll stay in selected accommodation in Kamloops.

Day 4

Rocky Mountaineer Kamloops to Vancouver

This morning, you'll step back onto Rocky Mountaineer and continue on towards the Pacific Ocean and Vancouver. You'll see the the Thompson River, Hell's Gate, and Fraser Canyon, as the scenery changes dramatically from desert interior to lush green forests. Enjoy more delicious food onboard before arriving in Vancouver this evening for an overnight stay.

Day 5

Vancouver North Shore

Today you'll take in an included six-hour sightseeing trip around Vancouver's North Shore. You'll cross the Lions Gate Bridge into the Coast Mountains, experiencing the Capilano Suspension Bridge and Treetops Adventure, which offers views of the coastal forest from as high as 110 feet. Visit Grouse Mountain and take a ride on the gondola, before arriving at the Peak of Vancouver for panoramic views of the city, ocean and mountains below. Tonight you'll stay once again in Vancouver, perhaps dining in one of the many restaurants along its sparkling waterfront.

Days 6 – 7

ms Koningsdam

Today you'll board luxurious ms Koningsdam and settle in to your suite. Take some time to explore the ship, marvelling at the myriad restaurants and lounges and perhaps enjoying some of the live music or entertainment included nightly. As the ship traverses the glaciers, towering Sitka spruce trees, snow-capped peaks and fjords of the Inside Passage, head to one of the upper decks to take it all in. A further sea day is an opportunity to really get to know the ship, perhaps enjoying a massage or treatment at the onboard spa & salon.

Day 8


Today you'll arrive into the slow-paced capital of Alaska – Juneau. Inaccessible by road, this charming town has plenty to offer by way of adventure. Hike to the Mendenhall Glacier or trek Mount Roberts in search of wild deer, glancing periodically above to spot bald eagles soaring through the sky. If you fancy heading into open water, take a boat trip to Chichagof Island for the chance to see bears in the wild, or visit Auke Bay and watch whales breaching against a backdrop of pretty alpine forests.

Day 9


You'll arrive in the port town of Skagway today, famous for its role in the Klondike Gold Rush as a main access point for prospectors in the region. A visit here, at the centre of the Klondike National Historic Park, reveals remnants of the gold rush everywhere, including the busy Red Onion Saloon. It's also from here that the historic WhitePass/Yukon and Route Railway pass through the mountains and glaciers between Skagway and Yukon. Explore the colourful town on foot before returning to the ship for dinner, perhaps enjoying an authentic Italian feast at Canaletto or the classic American menu at Pinnacle Grill.

Day 10

Glacier Bay

Today's sailing will bring you to the Glacier Bay National Park, a protected biosphere reserve and UNESCO World Heritage-listed site home to incredible wildlife and plants. In this home of whales and bears, you'll see the huge chunks of ice crashing into the ocean from the calving glacier – a truly incredible sight. Tonight, enjoy a multi-course meal in the dining room before taking in a show on the World Stage, or enjoy live music as you sip a cocktail in one of the bars or lounges.

Days 11 – 12

Ketchikan & Inside Passage

You'll head back through the Inside Passage via Ketchikan, a charming town surrounded by lush green forests and rugged wilderness. Take some time to explore the boutique shops on Creek Street; be sure to sample the chocolates at Ketchicandies; or perhaps taste the fresh fish the region is best known for. If you have time, a day trip to the Misty Fjords National Monument is a highlight. From here, you'll sail once again past the deep fjords of the Inside Passage on your return to Vancouver.

Today you'll disembark ms Koningsdam and check in to your Vancouver accommodation. You have two days to explore the city further, and from day trips into the mountains, to simply strolling the streets, there's plenty to do. Perhaps hire a bike for a cycle around the magnificent Stanley Park, or shop the quirky boutiques of Gastown. You can also take an aquabus to Granville Island, to visit the markets and sample chocolates or tea. And, if you happen to be in Vancouver at the right time of year, you might even be able to catch a Canucks game.
