In more detail

With classically styled furnishing and expansive windows, even the entry-level rooms at the Hotel Corvinus are a delight. Each comes with a pillow menu, with options ranging from memory foam to horse hair and goose down. Upgrades also mix in soaking tubs, views of the green Erzsébet Park, and design by noted architect Alex Kravetz. The suites are particularly impressive, complete with private bars, along with a complimentary shoeshine service and wake-up hot drinks.

You’ll be equally pampered outside your accommodation, with the luxury spa the hotel’s obvious highlight. Here, the usual pool and state-of-the-art fitness centre are joined by an excellent range of treatments, from massages to holistic therapies. The hotel also invites in all of Budapest’s artistry with its own gallery, while the city’s shopping experiences are represented by a curated series of boutiques. Think jewellers, cigar sellers and florists.

However, it’s perhaps the dining venues that stand out most, with the Kempinski Hotel something of a gastronomic destination in its own right. Nobu dishes up fusion-inspired classics from the Orient, the ÉS Bisztró serves updated Hungarian-Viennese delicacies in an ultra-modern brasserie setting, and, for light bites head to ÉS Deli, where just-baked pastries are paired with barista coffees. Then, wash it all down with a mixologist-prepared cocktail at the Blue Fox.
